John
Kennedy began his twenty year journey in search of a new genre
in wearable art at age seventeen. From the genesis of his vision
to today's expansive collection, John has poured his individual passion
for his craft into every beautiful piece he has made. Over the years,
John has refined his skill in innovation with an unwavering commitment
to quality and design.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts
in 1954. John Kennedy spent his youth in the tumultuous sixties as he began
his career in jewelry. Challenging the status quo, John set out to
redefine the accepted approach to modern jewelry design. After several
formative years as an apprentice, John became a jeweler to the industry
focusing on quality manufacturing processes and innovative design.
In 1987, John's achievements
were recognized in the Intergold Competition earning him a place in their
prestigious world tour. Their international notoriety and influence
were pivotal in the next phase of John's work.
In 1989, John began the
project which has become the culmination of his life long dream to discover
and share with the world a whole new approach to jewelry design.
He began the development of Cylettes®, "Cylinders
of Color"
 Cylettes®
were conceived from the notion that light and color need not be limited
to the reflective nature of traditional faceted stone cuts. Cylindrical
Gemstones allow for the transmission of natural light with a deeper and
smoother presentation of color. A clear and brilliant departure from
what had been accepted as the only way to appreciate colored gemstones.
By 1993 John had been
awarded two U.S. Patents and a trademark for Cylettes®
. By 1996, Cylettes®
had become recognized by the industry as the only unique and innovative
new offering in Decades. With the acceptance into the JCK and Tucson
design centers as well as the MJSA pavilion for American designers in Brasil,
Switzerland, John has taken his place amongst the foremost jewelry innovators
in the world.
John strives with every
effort to break new ground, to assure the continuous evolution of Cylettes®
